PAHPM 2022 Board/Officer Elections

It is now time for us to make nominations and choose our Board leadership to help carry us forward.  As we often say, we are a small but mighty group of dedicated PAs who since our founding over 10yrs ago, have worked hard to bring recognition to the many out there practicing in the fields of palliative medicine and hospice care.  It has been through amazing leadership, partnership, collaboration, and creativity that PAHPM Board members have grown our group.  No one person has brought us to where we are today--it truly takes a village.

Each member is important to this organization and contributes in their own special way.  Please consider stepping up and offering your talent, leadership, and knowledge in this field by nominating yourself or others to the the PAHPM Board. Below are brief descriptions of the positions open this year.

Know that you're never alone, we all truly work together and help each other out.  So don't be shy!  This is a great way to build your CV and leadership skills while contributing to your field and sharing your own unique ideas to PAHPM. The link below will take you to our website page, login, and review the open positions in detail and please consider submitting your nomination!

Open Positions:

President-Elect (1)

    Help us in Indy!

We need a pit crew! Would you like to support PAHPM and connect with current, interested and future members?

PAHPM will again have a Constituent Organization (CO) Booth in the CO Central Section of the Exhibit Hall in Indianapolis.  We need your help staffing the booth, whether it be just for an hour or longer.  It's easy, fun, and a great way to connect with other PAs interested in and already working in serious-illness care.  There's nothing like meeting that PA who realizes, "what, there's a group of people doing what I do?!?"

Please select a time slot that works with your conference schedule.  Again, we'd love to see you there if you can spare an hour or even more!  You'll have support from a board member, sign up and start connecting!

Once we compile a list, we will reach out with more details.

Title Name Change is Coming to PAHPM

Title change is coming and PAHPM will be preparing our CO for this important change.  Recently AAPA held a CO title change meeting, providing important information on timing, logistics and guidance for COs making the change from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate.

We will be discussing this more at our PAHPM Annual Member Meeting and in further Monthly Member Meetings.  If you are interested in participating in a workgroup/committee to help make this transition, please reach out to us at info@pahpm.org. More details to come!

    CAQ in Palliative Medicine &

    Hospice Care:

    It's Happening!

With some southern hospitality, NCCPA welcomed PA palliative leaders from around the country to Atlanta to begin putting together the first board exam for the new CAQ in Palliative Medicine & Hospice Care.  It was an amazing moment to not only see this long-awaited need come to fruition, but also to have PA leaders in our field in one room together.

Several PAHPM members, including some of our "founding" members are providing palliative and hospice expertise to represent those practicing in a variety of settings for pediatric and adult patients.  More work is yet to come, but NCCPA is on track to open the CAQ for perquisite gathering this later this year, and with the first board exam set to be in 2023.

If you're in Indianapolis for the conference, join us for our panel discussions which will include updates from NCCPA directly, as information on how this certification will help open doors for more PAs to enter the hospice & palliative fields.  No longer will we be the lone member on the interdisciplinary team without a specialty certification in HPM!

If you're looking for more information, visit NCCPA.  Also, if you're looking for more CME and learning opportunities to qualify for the CAQ next year, visit our Education page which we will continue to update!
